Information on so-called breeders or kitten mills who advertise
kittens or cats with terms like 'Teacup', 'Miniature, 'Pixies', 'Rughuggers',
etc...
BEWARE!!!
What you need to know --always
check with CFA, give them a call and ask their opinion before buying
from anyone offering such
named kittens.
These breeders that claim they are selling Teacups, Miniature, and
rare cats, BEWARE! There are no such titles registered with CFA cat
organization! All Persians are registered ONLY as Persians. These
titles of Miniature, Teacup etc. are just words, titles that kitten
mills usually use or non reputable breeders that are trying to get
bigger bucks for the kittens, or just sell them because they are not
reputable and many wont buy from them.
These breeders are misleading unsuspecting pet owners into thinking
this trait is rare, coveted, or new, and charging exorbitant prices
for their kittens. Make yourself an educated consumer. Check out
these facts with CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) before you fall for
this deception! Many will make glorious web sites to sell, all a
marketing tools no more, some will even mark kittens as sold at
exorbitant prices, or slash the price making it look good to buyers
on their web sites. All a marketing scheme these disreputable
breeders use to sell. They try to sell PET kittens at $2000-$6000
Dollars! If you're looking for Pet quality you can find this quality
worldwide from reputable breeders who sell pets for approx
$500-$1000. Show and/or breeding cats usually, at most catteries
around the world, run anywhere from $1200-$2500
If looking for a small Persian, many breeders will get them,
there are just usually smaller ones in some litters. I have seen web
sites of so called Teacup breeders etc., showing the weight of the
kittens or cats they sell. Many of these weights are very average
weight to a normal Persian. Also, I have seen Persians weigh not
much at full grown 4-5 pounds. They can "look big" because of the
long legs, long body etc. Then I have seen cats weighing over 12 pounds
that have short legs, short middle section, and are very compact that
"look small" due to their "stocky" build.
SO DON'T BE FOOLED
BY THE WEIGHT OF A CAT OR KITTEN.
